Goodman Fielder – Puhoi CEA Settled
By Mark Apiata-Wade
The Goodman Fielder Puhoi Collective Employment Agreement has been settled pending ratification. Puhoi is 5 minutes north of Orewa which itself is about half an hour north of Auckland.
The site has approximately 50 Dairy Workers and makes specialty (soft) cheeses for the domestic market. Settlement's Main Points are:
- 3 year agreement - 1st year - 6% via 4% increase to wage rates and allowances and a one off cash payment equivalent to one weeks wages (2%) to each member. 2nd and 3rd years - CPI + 1% each year.
- Access to the Dairy Industry Superannuation Scheme (DISS) after 5 years service. (Puhoi workers have never had access to DISS).
- Workers no longer have an obligation to work a Public Holiday (however if they do via mutual agreement they continue to get (3x) or ordinary rate plus double time.
For those workers, who don't work a Public Holiday, they will now be paid 'Relevant Daily Pay' (what they would have earned had they worked) i.e. their normal hours of shift plus any allowances they would have earned plus 4 hours at ordinary time. (Previously it was compulsory for the company to offer workers work on Public Holidays even if there was none).
